The 2014 Wisconsin State Fair Junior Market Steer Self-Identification Deadline is rapidly approaching!
Exhibitors wishing to exhibit Junior Market Steers at the 2014 Wisconsin State Fair presented by U.S. Cellular July 31 through August 10 will need to self-identify their animals with an official Wisconsin State Fair RFID identification tag and submit a DNA hair sample. Materials must be submitted between January 1 and February 10, 2014.Request forms for animal identification will be available at WiStateFair.com fromJanuary 1 through January 31, 2014. Forms must be submitted with proper fees ($15 per identified animal) by mail or delivered to the Wisconsin State Fair offices located at 640 South 84th Street, West Allis, WI 53214 by the deadline. Identification supplies willonly be available for pick-up at the Wisconsin State Fair offices February 1 – 10, 2014.
Upon processing of identification requests, Wisconsin State Fair will send RFID (Allflex) identification tag(s), identification documentation and DNA sample submission envelopes to each exhibitor. The exhibitor must self-identify his or her animals by placing the official Wisconsin State Fair RFID tag in the animal’s ear, collecting a DNA hair sample and completing the animal identification documentation form. Allflex ear taggers and needle nose pliers to extract hair DNA may also be purchased from the Fair if needed. DNA samples with the identification documentation must be postmarked or delivered to Wisconsin State Fair no later than 4:30pm on February 10, 2014.
Performance steers must be identified with a Wisconsin State Fair RFID ear tag and submit a DNA sample between January 1 and February 10, 2014.
