Gillett FFA members had a great time “Racing to the Fair” this year! On August 23-26 members showed animals, artwork, photography, and their skills. We had four people show rabbits, three people show dairy cows, one show a duck and one show a sheep at the Oconto County Fair. Our officer team put together a booth that received a third place ribbon.
Abbey Horsens won reserve grand champion heifer calf and made it into the sale where she made over one thousand dollars. Abbey said that “This year fair was an unforgettable year for her and that everybody gave their best.” Ryan Horsens won Senior Showmanship. Michelle Kohls got best of class for her cow. The Dairy Barn as a group won herdsman ship.
Tonie Glibertson won Grand Champion her market duck. The duck sold for five hundred and fifty dollars. She also received reserve grand champion on her pekin. Laura Reed-Warrichaiet got best of class for her Dutch rabbit. Victoria Loberger got a second place on her rabbit.
Skhyler Simpson received a reserve champion ultrasound market lamb and three first places on the three lambs she took. Kallie Rank said that “This year was a successful year for all that put in work on their fair projects and congrats to all!”
